Andrea’ Ezell is a Florida native, who received her bachelors degree in political science from Georgia State University, where she also played Division I volleyball for four years.

Andrea’ is a rising 3L at the University of Miami school of law, with a Government & Political Process concentration and an area of focus in Identity and Civil Rights. As a 2L, she was an intern for the Environmental Justice Clinic, where she worked on municipal equity and toxic waste claims, and served as the Attorney General for the Southern Region of the Black Law Students Association.

Andrea’ aspires to pursue a career in international civil and human rights, and to have a position with the UN or an NGO.

Dinesh McCoy is a law student currently pursuing his JD at New York University School of Law. Dinesh is passionate about community lawyering, racial and economic justice, and youth empowerment. Prior to law school, Dinesh was an AmeriCorps College Advisor at the Carolina College Advising Corps in High Point, North Carolina, and a legal assistant with the ACLU's National Security Project. He graduated with his B.A. in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dinesh grew up in Toledo, Ohio before moving to Plantation, Florida. He's excited about being back in South Florida, and looks forward to learning about how best to use lawyering skills in coordination with community-driven justice movements.  

Elsa Mota was born and raised in Miami, Florida and is Dominican. She is a rising 2L at Yale Law School. She is actively involved on campus to make her school a more inclusive place. She currently serves as Secretary of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), works with the diversity and inclusion team for admissions, and is a Dean Advisor for incoming first-year students. Additionally, Elsa is a part of the International Refugee Assistance Program and is a translator for the Immigration Legal Services clinic. She is interested in immigrant rights, children and families, and advocacy work.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with B.A in Criminology & Law and a B.S. in Psychology. Her senior thesis, titled “Gun Culture in the South and Black Victimization” explored the alarming rate at which young black men are shot and at times killed by police officers and the prevalence of those events in the South.

Raised in Miami, and a graduate of New World school of the Arts, Kiera wants to continue fighting for racial and economic justice in her community. After graduating from Stanford University with a double major in History and Comparative Literature, she moved to Nicaragua where she used Community Based Participatory Research initiatives to help improve maternal heath outcomes. She continued to dedicate her career to public interest work, advocating for tenants rights with Legal Services New York City and representing detained immigrants in bond hearings and asylum applications as a first year student at Harvard Law School. She has also worked with the Innocence Clinic at University of Miami, and will spend five weeks with the Miami Public Defender this summer. Her interests in the law include criminal defense, crimmigration, equity in education, and economic justice, and she is interested in lawyering models that address the intersections between these areas of the law. Thanks to her multicultural, immigrant upbringing, Kiera speaks Portuguese and Spanish, and a little French.   

A rising 2L Gates Public Service Scholar at UW Law, Dashni aims to use her legal degree to redistribute power to communities of color. The daughter of Kurdish refugees, Dashni grew up in public housing and worked with immigrant families and folks in prison during her undergraduate studies. After graduating, she traveled for eight months as a Bonderman Fellow, exploring femme identities in nine Muslim-majority countries. Dashni enjoys mindful hiking, Indian cinema, and working with children at her mother’s home daycare. She believes folks of color shouldn’t have to endure trauma to have access to a good life.
